1923 DH.53 Humming Bird (100)

From: $69.00

Originally built by de Havilland for the “Daily Mail” light aeroplane competition of 1923. The DH.53 Humming Bird was originally powered by a Douglas 750cc motorcycle engine. In 1924 the Royal Air Force commissioned eight of these gems for use as communications and training aircraft. Production models were powered by the 26 hp Blackburne Tomtit two-cyliner engine. The DH.53 was additionally tested as a “parasite aircraft” (launched from below an airship) before being retired to civil service in 1927.

Our 1923 DH.53 has been engineered to readily accept ParkZone and E-Flite Ultra Micro DSM2 electronics, includes a full hardware complement, Wheels, Windscreen, Flying Struts, and bonus profile pilot figure. Quick building interlocking laser cut construction increases build accuracy and reduces time spent on the building board. Perfectly suited for calm outdoor dawn/dusk patrol sorties and smaller indoor venues.
