For those of you who love the go anywhere versatility and simplicity of our DiddleBug design but yearn for a scale classic. Our latest offering will satisfy your scale fix while being true to our simple design philosophy for the DiddleBug series.
Featured here is our 1:12 scale laser cut model of George D. White's 1919 Sport Monoplane. White intended for his Sport Monoplane to be powered by a 12-20hp Harley-Davison motor or similar. White's monoplane sold for $365.00 to golden age home builders and built to 22'0" span, 14'0" length with a gross wt of 200 lbs.
Constructed of hand sorted AAA balsa and precision cut on our state of the art laser cutting equipment, our model builds to 1/12 the size of Whites original and is as true to scale as was possible given the limited information available on this subject. Simplicity in construction abounds yet we didn't sacrifice important scale details such as, durrable spoked wheels with period proper rubber, full flying rudder, scale wing with under cambered airfoil, functional carbon fiber wing struts, and lets not forget George's "neat" undercarriage! The kit is powered with the GWS-LPS-B2C-CS motor system and will accept ALL of your present DiddleBug electronics. We are positive you'll get many looks at your next indoor fly-in with this charming classic.
The 1919 White Monoplane is suitably sized to fly in a full court gymnasium or outdoors in zero-5mph wind conditions.
The White Monoplane is a very obscure golden age model. We are grateful to the following who made this kit a reality. Cyril Smith for planting the seed with his semi-scale monoplane. Walt Mooney for his excellent peanut plans and documentation on the full scale plane. AeroFiles, Harper Daniels, and Roy Houchin for tracking down as much scale documentation on this gem as they could find. |
